Sergio Perez was left disappointed after his P10 result at the Mexican Grand Prix, saying he wanted more out of the race.
Starting 12th on the starting grid, Perez moved into the points and finished P10, but lamented the fact that he was stuck behind Williams driver Felipe Massa for much of his home Grand Prix.
Despite his points finish, the Mexican feels he could have finished much higher.
“I really wanted a lot more, it felt like the whole race I was not able to do anything, I was just held up – as much as I tried to get by I couldn’t,” he said.
“They were so fast on the straight; we knew before the race if there’s one car we don’t want to be in a fight with it’s the Williams, but unfortunately we ended up fighting both of them.
“It’s a very disappointing race as I wanted to give a better result to my team and to the people, but I gave 100 per cent every lap.”
He also questioned Force India’s strategy, adding that they may have underestimated the medium compounds.
“I think they were looking for a gap, and with the adrenalin I’m maybe frustrated in the car,” he added.
“I think maybe we could have tried something different with the strategy because we underestimated the effect of the Medium tyre, which turned out to have much more life than we expected.”
