Perez teases future amid Ferrari, Renault links
Sergio Perez is looking to quickly resolve his Formula 1 future, but said that "you never know what will happen…".
The Mexican is in talks with Force India about extending his stay with the team into a fifth team, but he is thought to be on the radar of another couple of teams.
The former member of the Ferrari Academy has been linked with a return to the Scuderia as a potential replacement for Kimi Raikkonen, also out of contract this year, while Renault are reportedly interested, too.
"In terms of my future, l just hope that when l come back for the next race I can have a new contract,” said Perez ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
When asked if the new contract would be with Force India, he added: "That would be good but you never know what will happen…"
Perez added that he is happy with the progress made by the team each year, but conceded that they could hit a glass ceiling before reaching the "big boys" of Formula 1.
He said: “I think the team has been moving forward every year, although this year we are achieving the same position as the previous year.
“We have consolidated that place and I see the team is moving forward.
“There is a lot more interest and sponsorship in the team, but it is not easy to make the next step with the big boys or big teams.”
