Perez: We made progress over my future

Although there is no confirmation, Force India driver Sergio Perez has hinted that he has agreed to stay at the Silverstone-based outfit for another year.

In recent times, Perez has been linked to Williams, Haas and Ferrari, with the Mexican himself claiming that he wants to be challenging for race wins in the future.

Reports from Malaysia suggest that the main issue for the former McLaren driver was his wages.

However, those issues seem to have been resolved, with Perez saying that talks in Kuala Lampur were positive.

“We did a lot of progress over my future this weekend,” said Perez.

“So I think very soon you will have an official announcement.

“I know what I am doing for my future, but I am not in a position to comment on that. There will be something official – and hopefully soon.

“I cannot really tell you more details, but I am pretty certain about what I am doing – so it is good.”

His team-mate Nico Hulkenberg is contracted for another year at Force India, so their drivers’ line-up for 2017 will be unchanged if Perez stays on for next season.
