Charles Pic has been hit with community service and a 20second time penalty for his Singapore GP result after passing cars under red flags.
The red flags were waved in the final three minutes of Saturday’s practice when Vitaly Petrov hit the wall with his Caterham coming to a stop on the designated road into pit lane.
Pic, though, ignored the red flags and overtook others, which is deemed to be dangerous.
As such the rookie racer will have 20s add to his race finishing time and will also serve a day of community service with the FIA.
The FIA said: “Penalty of 20 seconds to be added to the driver’s race time and in addition the driver and his team engineer to perform 1 day’s Community Service for FIA Action for Road Safety campaign at the instruction of the FIA President.
“The driver and team representative conceded the breach which involved the driver passing 4 sets of red lights/flags, then overtaking another car.”
Pic has accepted the penalty. “I have seen the information and I would like to say that I completely agree with it.
“It was a mistake on my part and I will use the experience wisely.”
