Pirelli reveal Russian tyre compounds

Pirelli have revealed their tyre compound selection for the Russian Grand Prix which hosts the fourth round of this season's Championship.

As of this season all teams will be able to choose between three compounds for each race weekend although Pirelli do dictate specific compounds for use during qualifying and the grand prix.

For the Russian race, which takes place at the Sochi circuit, teams will have the choice of the supersoft, soft and medium tyres.

However, they have to use the softs and mediums at some point in the grand prix while the supersofts must be used during Q3 on the Saturday.

Added to that Pirelli revealed that "following on from the 2016 regulations, each driver must save for Q3 one set of the softest of the three nominated compounds.

"This set will be given back to Pirelli after Q3 for those who qualify in the top 10, but the remaining drivers will keep it for the race – as is the case currently."

The teams are then free to choose the remaining sets that they want to use.
