Helmut Marko has backed Sebastian Vettel in the ‘Multi21’ affair, saying it’s points and not friends that count in F1.

Vettel claimed a controversial 25 points in the Malaysian GP when he disobeyed team orders to pass Mark Webber for the victory.

The German’s actions poured ice water over an already cool relationship especially after he came out saying he would do it again.

And although Vettel has been widely criticised, at least one person is supporting the reigning World Champ.

“A driver sometimes begins to develop his own character. This is not always easy but it’s a must,” Marko told the Bild am Sonntag.

“Sebastian is not a politician who has to win an election.

“In F1 you don’t count your friends; only your points.”
