Kimi Raikkonen has been given the all-clear after he fell off a skidoo during the Swatch Snow Mobile race in Austria.

The Finn, who this week confirmed his return to Formula One after a two-year absence when he signed for Renault, is reported to have fallen after taking a turn too quickly while racing on the 75-horsepower skidoo. The former Ferrari man was treated for a hand and wrist injury but was cleared by medical staff.

“We just spoke to Kimi. There’s nothing to worry about, he only has a sore wrist. He might have it checked again on Monday, but that’s all,” the team said on their official Twitter feed.

The 32-year-old’s accident will serve as a stark reminder to Renault of the dangers associated with their drivers taking part in extreme events. Earlier in the year, former Renault man Robert Kubica suffered severe injuries in a rally crash that ruled him out of the 2011 season, with the Pole yet to return to action.
