Kimi Raikkonen has slapped with a 30 second time penalty for causing a collision with Valtteri Bottas in Russia.
Determined to claim the final podium position at the Sochi circuit, Raikkonen made a daring lunge on Bottas on the final lap.
The move, though, did not pay off as Raikkonen hit the back of the Williams.
Bottas was shunted into retirement while Raikkonen limped home in fifth place.
That has now become P8 after the stewards deemed him responsible and slapped him with a 30 second penalty.
Raikkonen, however, feels it was a racing incident.
"I don't know, for me it was racing," said the Ferrari driver.
"I tried to pass and unfortunately it ended up like this, but I'm not the stewards.
"I overtook him there once before and I wasn't too far back so I thought I would try again.
"Once I decided to try I can't back off. I don't know if he didn't see me at all or didn't expect me to go there.
"I tried to turn as much inside as I could but there was nowhere to go and we collided."
Raikkonen's penalty means Mercedes win the Constructors' title.
