Toro Rosso team boss Franz Tost has firmly shut the door on any speculation that Red Bull would be open to a deal allowing Carlos Sainz to race for Renault.
Sainz, who lost out on a Red Bull promotion earlier this season which was instead handed to Max Verstappen, has already been confirmed by Toro Rosso for next season.
That, though, has done little to quieten Renault's interest in the Spaniard – nor dissuade related sports betting markets.
The French manufacturer are believed to be keen on putting Sainz in one of their cars next season as they look to improve on this year's wretched performances.
Tost, though, doesn't believe Red Bull would be open to loaning out their driver.
"Carlos has a contract with Red Bull, and I don't think Red Bull will let him go to another team considering the investment it has made during his career since the first steps in single-seater," he told Motorsport.com.
"Today he is a high-level professional, and I see no reason why he could be let go. Toro Rosso needs Carlos: he's fast, talented, and in 2017 we will need a driver of his level."
