With Red Bull hoping to fight for race wins and championship this season, Christian Horner says the rules are clear – they must “respect each other” on the track.
Last season both Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen won one grand prix each, Malaysia and Spain respectively.
This season they are hoping that more victories will be forthcoming and maybe even a title fight.
And throughout this Horner says they will both get equal opportunity but must always “respect” one another.
“The rules we have are very clear,” he told BBC Radio 5 live.
“Both drivers have the same opportunity but we expect them to respect each other on the circuit.
“They must give each other space and respect when they are racing which, to date, they have been very, very good at.”
But while Red Bull failed to shine during pre-season testing, the team boss believes that in the RB13 they have a car that has the potential to close the gap to Mercedes.
“There is a lot of sandbagging in testing. Nobody really knows what specification each other’s cars are running in,” he explained.
“We’ve never won a testing World Championship but we are confident we have had a good pre-season.”
He added: “Mercedes are still very much the favourite.
“Ferrari had a positive pre-season, they look like they have a good car but we are reasonably confident that we have the basis of a good car.
“It will now be all about development throughout the season and we are hopeful we can close the gap to Mercedes.”
