Renault chassis passes crash tests

Renault's first season back as a team owner is on track with Lotus announcing that the chassis has passed the mandatory crash tests.

Despite protracted talks over the purchase of the Lotus team, which was only completed in December, the team's 2016 preparations are on schedule.

The latest step was the homologation of the new chassis which took place earlier this week.

"Chassis homologation: DONE," tweeted the team.

But while that has been completed, there are still other issues for the team to iron out such as the expected rebranding and also the drivers.

Although Lotus have Pastor Maldonado and Jolyon Palmer on the books for this season, the Venezuelan driver's seat is reportedly on the line due to issues over sponsorship payment.
