Daniel Ricciardo reckons Red Bull could challenge for pole position in Hungary, just as long as they are able to repeat their Friday showing.

The Aussie was the man to beat at the Hungaroring on Friday, quickest in both practice sessions.

Driving an updated RB13, Ricciardo posted a best time of 1:18.455 to beat Sebastian Vettel by 0.183s.

“They are,” he said when asked if the upgrades were working well.

“Today was good, certainly it was a positive day.

“To replicate the same pace as this morning in the afternoon is positive gives everyone the chance to make some changes.

“You don’t want Ferrari and Mercedes are going to come up with and it looks like Ferrari found some more pace this afternoon but we’re still ahead so we’ll see tomorrow.”

Asked if he can put his RB13 on pole, he replied: “If we replicate today than yes.”

As for his comments about not “liking that kids face” said at the end of FP2, he admitted it was about Force India’s Esteban Ocon.

“He is always in my way.

“It is only practice but I may have to finally have a word to him.”
