Ricciardo: Peaks and drops in Friday practice

Red Bull are “not expecting too much” at this weekend’s Russian GP after failing to challenge Ferrari and Mercedes in Friday’s practices.

While Ferrari claimed the 1-2 at the Sochi Autodrom, Mercedes weren’t too far off the pace.

The same, though, cannot be said of Red Bull.

Max Verstappen was the best placed Red Bull driver, 1.4s off Sebastian Vettel’s P1 time while Ricciardo was a further 0.37s down on his team-mate.

“We know that this is what we’ve got this weekend,” said the Aussie.

“We’re trying to do what we can with the current car and package, but we’re not expecting too much.

“We’ll get the job done and hopefully fight for a bit more in a few weeks.

“We had some good signs throughout the day, with some little peaks and then some little drops, so we’ll look at the peaks tonight and be happy about those.

“We probably just lacked consistency from run-to-run.”
