Nico Rosberg is upbeat about his and Mercedes GP’s 2012 chances, saying he has a “good feeling” about the new season.
After winning the double in 2009, many believed Merc would again challenge for honours in 2010 and 2011. However, they fell well short of expectations and finished a distant fourth in the Constructors’ Championship.
Rosberg, who secured seventh in the Drivers’ standings the past two campaigns, says things are looking good for new season and is optimistic that he will lead the team to glory.
“If you’re at the wrong time in the wrong place then there is not much you can change,” Rosberg told Germany’s Bild.
“I have a good feeling about 2012. All our guys are working hard to get Mercedes to the right end of the grid.
“In this sport you are very dependent on the machinery and even if someone thinks he is best equipped to win it may not turn out that way. However, I am happy with this team and want to lead Mercedes to the Championships.”
