Rosberg: I can live with second

In one of the most chaotic races of the season, Nico Rosberg will leave Brazil satisfied after settling for P2 as he couldn’t keep up with his team-mate and eventual race winner Lewis Hamilton.

With Rosberg’s lead now down to just twelve-points, the Drivers’ Championship will be concluded in two weeks time in Abu Dhabi for the final race of 2016.

During the podium presentation, the Championship leader praised Hamilton and admitted that the conditions made it very hard for him to be competitive.

“It didn’t go my way today with the win. Lewis did a great job. For sure it was very difficult conditions out there and I can live with second today,” he explained.

“It worked out fine, I stayed on the track.”

At one stage during the race, Red Bull youngster Max Verstappen threw a spanner in the works and overtook Rosberg for P2.

However, the Dutchman eventually surrendered his second place after he decided to switch onto inters, which was considered a bad decision.

When quizzed about Verstappen’s excellent driving when he saved his car from flying into the wall, Rosberg was not expecting him to be sideways when he went around the corner.

“I arrived on the straight and saw him pointing 90 degrees towards the wall and thought ‘what the hell!’,” he exclaimed.

On the Safety Cars and red flags, the German said: “It was on the limit but yes they got it right. They did a good job judging it as it was quite a fine line out there.”
