Rosberg needs Bottas’ help

Nico Rosberg has singled out Valtteri Bottas as the one driver who could help him beat Lewis Hamilton to this year’s World title.

The Mercedes protagonists were on point in Abu Dhabi on Friday, claiming the 1-2 in both practice sessions.

Should Sunday’s race ended in a similar formation, or even with Rosberg ahead of Hamilton, it is the British driver who will win the Drivers’ Championship.

However, should Rosberg manage to nip ahead of his team-mate and Bottas finish second, it is the German who will secure the Championship.

“We need to wait and see, because the Williams, for example, was actually looking pretty good at some points,” he said.

“Of course I’m hoping they’re closer.

“The car feels good and the pace advantage seems to be there for sure at the moment, which is not necessarily a good thing because I need some help from someone else, but Bottas is looking quick at times so we need to see where he really is.”
