Rosberg: That was frustrating

Botching his start at the Canadian Grand Prix, Championship leader Nico Rosberg was left frustrated after he couldn’t turn his front row start into a podium.
At the first corner of the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Rosberg was trying to get ahead of his teammate Lewis Hamilton after Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel pipped them both to P1.
However, during all the commotion, Rosberg and Hamilton touched as the German went off track and landed up rejoining the pack just inside the top ten.
From then on it was always an uphill battle for the German, he even spun out on the final lap when he tried to overtake Max Verstappen but lost his rear brakes in the process.
He ended the race in P5 ahead of rival driver Kimi Raikkonen.
“Sebastian had a great start, I had a decent one and Lewis had a really bad one,” the 30-year-old revealed.
“In Barcelona, I went round the outside of Lewis and it worked out really well, I went for the same one again today and he did a really hard, racing maneuver.
“We touched and I was off and that’s it. It didn’t work out, I was very p***** off in that moment but that’s racing in the end and it’s my job to make sure I’m in front after a battle like that next time.
“Of course that was very costly for me because I lost a lot of places. From then it was an uphill battle trying to fight back. We also nearly run out of fuel which is why I couldn’t attack Max, though he did a very good job at the end.
“Then I had to drop back, try again, drop back, try again. In the end it went completely pear-shaped. Frustrating race, of course.”
Hamilton is now only nine points behind Rosberg on the Drivers’ Championship table.
