Rossi ‘talking’ with Haas

Alexander Rossi may be talking with Haas about a 2016 drive but he concedes they are not yet "advanced" negotiations.
The American is keen to enter Formula 1 having already stints as a test driver for Marussia and the now defunct Caterham team.
His chances of taking the step up have been bolstered by the arrival of an American team on the grid with Haas set to make their debut in 2016.
"We're talking, but I wouldn't say advanced talks yet," the 23-year-old told Autosport.
"We're one of the 10 drivers they have, but I don't think anyone really knows where they're at.
"Obviously I have my hopes, but at the same time I'm not putting all my eggs in one basket because we are talking to other teams and looking at different options, with Formula 1 still being the main objective."
The GP2 driver is hoping his performances out on track this season, which have put him second in the standings with one win to his tally, will show Haas and the rest of the F1 paddock what he is capable of.
"I'd like to think so," he said when asked if he thought he was "near the top" of Haas' list.
"I'm doing the best job I can this year and I think I'm showing what I'm capable of.
"We need to carry that forward as much as we can and get the stars and stripes on the top step as much as possible before they make their decision."
