As he races towards his F1 swansong, Michael Schumacher says he is hoping for a “most positive trend” in his final races, starting with India.

A disappointing season with Mercedes seems to have become even worse of late with the team failing to score in the last two grands prix.

While Nico Rosberg crashed out on the opening lap of both the Japanese and Korean races, Schumacher struggling to fight back from a penalty at the first and just didn’t have the pace in the second.

The German, though, is hoping for a better as he prepares to bid farewell to F1 having announced he is to retire at the end of this season.

“After two races which have not been totally satisfying, we naturally wish for a more positive trend to come, and I can say that everybody in the team has put in a lot of effort to achieve it,” he said.

“Let’s see what we can make out of it.”

The next circuit on the calendar is the Buddh International track which will play host to the Indian GP in only its second season. And Schumacher reckons it will be interesting to see how the country embraces the sport.

“The Formula 1 debut of India last year was certainly a success.

“There were a surprising amount of fans during the weekend, and the track itself really is cool.

“We drivers were given a very enthusiastic reception, and it will be interesting to see if this enthusiasm has remained as strong.”
