Bruno Senna says he needs a big points-haul this season in order to “prove to everybody” that he deserves to be in F1.

Having raced for Lotus last season and HRT the year before, the Brazilian, nephew of the late Ayrton Senna, made the move up to Williams this year.

Senna, although lacking his team-mate Pastor Maldonado’s race victory, has been the more consistent of the two Williams drivers, bagging points in seven grands prix.

As a result the 28-year-old has 25 points towards his campaign, just four less than his team-mate.

“Nothing has changed, we are just focusing on race by race,” Senna told Reuters when asked about his future.

“For me, the results are very important and even though we had some strong races in the last few the points haven’t been quite strong enough.

“Scoring some big points will be enough I guess to prove to everybody that I should be around next year.”
