Although Sir Frank Williams believes Rubens Barrichelll is a “treasure trove of information and experience”, he’s not yet ready to re-sign the Brazilian.

Barrichello, who has 11 grand prix victories to his name, may be turning 40 year but has made no secret about the fact that he wants to remain in Formula One – and wants to stay on at Williams.

“I definitely want to be racing next year. We are in conversations with the team,” he recently said.

However, Williams are not yet ready to commit to the Brazilian despite acknowledging the strengths he brings to the team.

“I can’t say anything about our drivers until we have made up our own minds,” Sir Frank said.

“Rubens is very highly regarded and is truly a treasure trove of information and experience and that’s something that will not be thrown away lightly.

“I think if we had given him a better car he would have been very close to the front (this year), if not at the front. He is a superb driver.”
