Sergey Sirotkin will join Robert Kubica in Williams’ post-Abu Dhabi Pirelli tyre test but it is uncertain if that means he is also in line for a 2018 race-seat.
Williams have confirmed their line-up for the test with Sirotkin joining Kubica and regular driver Lance Stroll for the two-day outing.
But while Kubica’s run is the latest test as the team evaluates him for a possible 2018 race-seat, it is not known whether Sirotkin is also in line.
At present Kubica is believed to be up against Paul di Resta, Pascal Wehrlein and Daniil Kvyat for the seat.
Earlier this week, Williams denied claims that the Polish driver had already signed a two-year deal starting in 2018.
“Although conversations are ongoing with Kubica, it is still yet to be finally decided who will replace Massa,” the team said.
“We will make an announcement when we have something to announce but nothing is planned this weekend in Abu Dhabi.”
