Adrian Sutil expects to remain at Force India next season but stopped short of issuing a confirmation.

The German returned to the sport this season after a year out and was quickly up to speed with a seventh-placed finish at the season-opening Australian GP.

However, as the season progressed Sutil has been outscored by his team-mate Paul di Resta by 48 points to 29.

But despite coming second in the Force India tussle, the 30-year-old is confident of another season with the team.

“Yes I know where I will be,” he told Autosport. “There is a signature somewhere – but it is a team policy that I don’t talk about it.

“But I am quite happy. It was always my decision where I signed or didn’t sign – and that is why I feel good.”

Sutil added that he believes Force India could have an advantage next season as they will be using Mercedes power when the sport changes to 1.6-litre V6 engines.

“I believe in German technology and English engineering. It works quite well together.

“But we have no proof that the engine will be the best. This is just from experience that Mercedes are able to build very strong engines.

“But Ferrari is also a very good manufacturer. Renault has a lot of history in this turbo charger engine, so they could be also very strong.”
