Adrian Sutil will start Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix from 17th on the grid having incurred a three-place penalty.

The Force India driver was caught impeding Lewis Hamilton during Saturday’s second qualifying segment at the Monza circuit.

Replays of the incident show the German clearly getting in the Brit’s way as Hamilton came through the Parabolica. Hamilton failed to make it out of Q2 but later blamed his own driving.

Sutil was summoned to the stewards office were he was slapped with a three-place penalty that will drop him to 17th on the grid.

The stewards’ report read: “The Stewards determined the impeding was not intentional however it is the responsibility of the driver to be aware of the approaching car.”
