Symonds rules out signing with another team

Pat Symonds has revealed that he has no intention of signing with another F1 team after parting ways with Williams.

Symonds joined Williams from Marussia in 2013, signing on as the team’s technical director.

That relationship came to an end in December by mutual agreement as the Brit had initially signed a three-year deal.

It also brought to an end the 63-year-old’s time in Formula 1 as he says he has no plans of joining another team.

“I’ve spent January looking around at what possibilities there might be,” Symonds told Motorsport.com.

“I’m on holiday in February and during that time I’ll decide on some of the things I might do, and then in March I’ll start doing them.

“It’s not really my intention to join another F1 team – I want to do different things now.”

But while Symonds’ time in Formula 1 may be over, he insists he is not retiring.

He added: “What I’m surprised about is how much work there is out there.

“I’m quite open-minded about what I’ll do.

“I’m certainly not retired, and now I am away from the relentless intensity of F1 team work it will be nice to reflect and use my experience in a positive way for the sport.”
