Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel, racing as Team Germany in the RoC, claimed their fifth successive Nations Cup on Saturday.

The Formula One duo, who have nine Drivers’ Championship titles between them, heading to the Dusseldorf ESPRIT arena as the favourites given their impressive run in recent years.

However, they didn’t have it all their own way.

Team Germany came close to be knocked out in the semi-finals but scraped through after Team GB’s Jenson Button spun out in the best-of-three decider against Vettel.

This put Team Germany into the finals where they beat Team Nordic’s Tom Kristensen and Juho Hanninen to clinch their fifth RoC Nations Cup.

“It’s special to win five in a row. This is a difficult event and a lot of things have to come together,” Vettel said.
