Verstappen delighted at Chinese GP comeback

After dropping down the grid during the first stint of pitstops, Toro Rosso speedster Max Verstappen was relieved that he was able to make it back into the top 10 at the Chinese Grand Prix.

When the safety car was deployed, Verstappen and his teammate Carlos Sainz Jr. had to make a double stop compared to other teams making one stop.

Finishing one place behind World Champion Lewis Hamilton, the youngster revealed that his 8th place finish surprised him the most as he did not think he would be scoring any points after the safety car caused him to drop behind the pack.

"At the start, I had a good first reaction but then I wasn't able to keep my position unfortunately," he is quoted as saying by gpupdate.net.

"From then on it was very tricky, and the safety car didn't help as I lost even more ground with our double pit-stop, which meant I was at the back of the pack.

"But I stayed calm, overtook the rivals one by one and in the end, to cross the line in eighth position is something that if someone had told me at the beginning of the race I wouldn't have believed!

"I also think the team did a great job strategy wise, we were able to charge through the field and score some more points."
