Max Verstappen is the third driver to be penalised ahead of the United States GP weekend with news that he’s taking a final power unit for this season.
The Red Bull racer will reportedly take a new internal combustion engine along with one other element following Friday’s two practice sessions.
As such he’s facing a 15-place grid penalty.
Red Bull, though, believe Austin is a track where Verstappen can make up the lost ground.
“At least you can overtake so it’s not such a problem,” Red Bull motorsport boss Helmut Marko told Motorsport.com.
“And it’s could be wet. I don’t know exactly what will be changed and what won’t be. Wait until Saturday.”
Stoffel Vandoorne and Brendon Hartley have also been penalised.
