Verstappen: We can improve

Max Versstappen has insisted that despite topping the first free practice, there is still more to come from him and his updated RB12 at the Singapore Grand Prix.

With Red Bull’s impressive display at a similar track in Monaco earlier in the year, many believe that the energy drink-owned team are the favourites to win the race on Sunday.

However, in FP2, Red Bull couldn’t replicate the 1-2 finish they completed during FP1, with rivals Nico Rosberg and Kimi Raikkonen posting faster times than them.

The Dutchman, though, is confident that he and his team-mate Daniel Ricciardo wil bel up at the front of the grid fighting for P1.

“They look pretty strong again,” said the teenager.

“My second session wasn’t perfect, but we were still up there, so we can be happy. I think we can still improve a bit, so I’m looking forward to tomorrow.

“I think it’s definitely our best chance [of another win] – after Monaco, this is definitely the best track for us.”

On the new engine he received, the Spanish Grand Prix champion claimed that it is not such a major improvement as everyone thinks it is.

“It’s a new engine, but nothing special; just a new engine [from my allocation],” he added.

“We had some new fuels so, yeah, that’s good, but [both cars] have the same stuff on board.”
