Although Sebastian Vettel says it was a “useful” few days at Mugello, the Red Bull driver is uncertain whether his team made any gains.

Red Bull joined 10 of their drivers at the Italian circuit this week for a three-day in-season test.

Thursday’s final day of action saw Vettel focused largely on aerodynamic testing, finishing up with a 1:21.267. That put him second on the timesheets, just 0.232s behind pace-setter Romain Grosjean.

“It’s been a useful couple of days and I’ve enjoyed the track a lot,” Vettel said.

“As usual we now have a lot of data to get through and that will take some time.

“We tried a few things and the results look encouraging; it’s always difficult to tell whether we improved and by how much, but we got some good laps and some good information.”
