Pascal Wehrlein was arguably the driver of the day after the Manor driver secured a respectable P12 ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday.

Achieving their best ever performance in qualifying, the German youngster was delighted at their achievement and lauded his team for all their hard work throughout weekend.

Despite his wonderful Saturday, the promising teenager claimed that he actually could have done better if it wasn't for a rear downforce problem.

"The team did a fantastic job the whole weekend," he told Sky Sports.

"I felt comfortable in the car and I think it's the first weekend we are not struggling with tyre temperature in qualifying. You can see how much time you can make up due to that.

"In Q2 I did my lap with the supersofts, I'm really happy with Q1 and Q2.

"Tomorrow is a different story. It will be difficult in the long run with tyre degradation and we are missing a bit of rear downforce. I will do my best and hope for an even better result tomorrow."
