After it was announced that Nico Hulkenberg will be departing Force India for Renault at the end of the season, Pascal Wehrlein revealed that he has been in talks with Silverstone-based outfit over the vacant seat.
It has yet to be confirmed who will be racing alongside Sergio Perez next season, with a host of names linked with the drive.
The Mercedes development driver is enjoying a promising season with Manor, having already scored his first point in Formula 1.
"Indeed, there's a seat at Force India, and of course we're in talks with them," Wehrlein told GPUpdate.net.
"We'll see how it will unfold. At the moment, I'm focused on doing the best possible job for Manor. We want to end the season on a high."
The German youngster also added that he wasn’t surprised when he heard the news of Hulkenberg’s departure.
"For me, it wasn't a surprise that there would be an open seat at Force India," he said.
"First there were rumours about Sergio, just after he had signed it focused on Nico. There's no smoke without a fire."
