Wehrlein hopes for F1 drive

Pascal Wehrlein is hoping he can secure a F1 race-seat for 2016 as rumours linking him to a Manor drive continue.

The Mercedes protege is currently contesting the DTM Championship which he leads by 37 points over Edoardo Mortara.

It has been an impressive season for the 20-year-old who heads home to Germany and the Hockenheimring for the final round of the campaign.

But while DTM may be his focus at present, Wehrlein is dreaming of racing in Formula 1.

He is being linked to a seat with the Manor team who will be powered by Mercedes in 2016.

"I hope that I can have a cockpit in Formula 1 next year," he told GPUpdate.net.

"But at the moment I don't really think about it [Formula 1], because I just want to finish this season in DTM, and for sure I want to be the champion.

"I have to concentrate on that, because if you think about other things you lose concentration and focus, and you can see it in the performance.

"After the last race we can discuss what will happen next year."
