McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh says there is no reason why Lewis Hamilton can’t see out his career with the Woking team.

Hamilton has in recent weeks been linked with a move to Red Bull, but both camps have been quick to dismiss the speculation.

Whitmarsh though is making sure that Hamilton knows McLaren are desperate to hang onto him for as long as possible.

“There’s no reason why we can’t have 10 more great years and he will in that time bestride this sport and dominate it,” Whitmarsh is quoted in The Mirror.

“We see a long career for Lewis ahead and we want to make sure he is a multiple World Champion by the time he decides to go on and do other things in his life.”
