Wolff continues to warn about Ferrari threat

Despite dominating every Grand Prix thus far, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has refused to rule out Ferrari as a threat in the upcoming races.

In Russia, Silver Arrows duo Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton finished nearly half a minute ahead of Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen in a comfortable to claim a comfrotable one-two finish at Sochi.

Wolff, though, explained that it was due to the conditions of the Sochi Autodrom circuit and not because of the Ferrari’s lack of pace, strategy and reliability.

"The track is very different, very smooth surface, and you can see that the pace of many teams was very different from before — Williams was very strong, Red Bull not strong at all, Ferrari not as good as expected," the Austrian told crash.net.

"It is a particular circuit where you have to get it right in terms of mechanical grip and aerodynamic downforce.

"Engine power plays a role so I would say the blip in performance we've seen from Ferrari is Sochi-specific but then I didn't see their data so I don't know."

As the Spanish Grand Prix approaches this weekend, the Scuderia will be looking to close their 81-point gap on Mercedes.
