Guenther Steiner can't wait for season to be over

Expecting a difficult time in Austin, Guenther Steiner says the best thing about the race is that it is the third last in what has been a trying season for Haas.

2019, and its Pirelli tyres, have not been kind to Haas.

The American team has struggled to find the sweet spot in the rubber with Sunday afternoon often turning into ‘pass-a-Haas’ day out on track.

The team has not scored a single point since the summer break, leaving them down in ninth place in the standings.

They suffered their second worst showing of the season last Sunday in Mexico where Kevin Magnussen was P15 to Romain Grosjean’s 17th.

The up side? The season will soon be over.

“The way we directed the race was okay, it’s the car is just not fast enough,” Steiner said.

“What can you do?

You try to get the best out of it, especially with Kevin that’s what was there, there wasn’t more there.

“That’s it. So that’s the positive.

“I’m not disappointed because my hopes were always very low, so it’s like the disappointment goes away.

“The best news? It’s only three more [races] to go!”

Looking ahead to the American GP, part two of the season’s final back-to-back, Steiner is predicting another difficult weekend for his team.

“Austin will still be difficult, but not as bad as Mexico,” he added.

“With the high altitude we struggled more and we knew coming here that this will be (difficult) and it was.”
