F1 results: Sao Paulo Grand Prix 2026
The 2025 F1 World Champion has crossed the line almost 15 seconds clear of Verstappen, having moved into the lead in the middle stages of the race after a difficult race from Kimi Antonelli took the Italian driver out of contention.
Antonelli had been leading when he spun at Turn 1 on Lap 20, handing the lead to Norris, who was applying the pressure after catching the Mercedes driver.
Norris never looked back from there, with Verstappen’s surge back to the podium seeing him climb to second, but unable to close the gap to put Norris under any significant pressure.
Red Bull had a double podium, with Isack Hadjar coming home in third; the French driver played nicely with Verstappen to allow his teammate through during his charge, with Hadjar maintaining third to the flag.
Fourth went to George Russell, whose inspired call to swap to intermediates early in the closing stages as the rain returned saw him catch back up on Antonelli, was initially undone by a spin in the pitlane exit, which heavily compromised his race.
Antonelli came home in fifth in what was a scruffy race, with the newly crowned Champion complaining about the handling of his car on the slicks.
Oscar Piastri came home sixth for McLaren, almost a minute behind his teammate, while Charles Leclerc finished in seventh for Ferrari in what was a largely anonymous race for the Scuderia.
Liam Lawson claimed eighth for Racing Bulls, having moved up to second place on the opening lap, while Lewis Hamilton was ninth for Ferrari. The final points place went to Audi’s Nico Hulkenberg.
