As Formula 1 nears the end of the 2026 campaign, many of the drivers have reached the end of their allocation for the various power unit components.
Some of them are taking a second, or even third, component beyond their season’s tally.
So far this weekend the FIA has announced penalties for Hamilton, Verstappen, George Russell and Sergio Perez.
Bortoleto and Lindblad joined the list on Sunday.
The FIA confirmed that Bortoleto, competing in his home Grand Prix, had a 10-place penalty for taking on new engine components after qualifying.
The Brazilian’s Audi R26 was fitted with a sixth Energy Store and a sixth Control Electronics Unit.
“The penalty,” read the FIA note, “is imposed in accordance with Article B8.2.8b of the FIA F1 regulations.
“The use of each additional element in this case carries a 5 grid place penalty therefore there is an accumulation of 10 places.”
