The FIA stewards have launched an investigation following an incident between Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Haas debutant Rafael Camara in FP2 at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Mercedes driver and newly crowned F1 2026 world champion Kimi Antonelli set the pace in Friday’s second practice session at Interlagos.

Leclerc was seventh in his first appearance of the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend, having sat out FP1 for Ferrari junior Dino Beganovic, with Camara classified 16th ahead of his F1 debut on Sunday.

Leclerc encountered a slow-moving Camara on the high-speed approach to the main straight as he sought to complete a lap, forcing the Ferrari to take to the green-painted run-off area.

The Ferrari driver was heard voicing his displeasure over team radio, commenting: “I mean, what the f**k was that?”

His race engineer Bryan Bozzi replied: “Yeah, copy.”

Leclerc was also seen raising his left arm in frustration in the aftermath of the incident, with the stewards’ launching a post-session investigation.

Camara and Leclerc, along with team representatives of Haas and Ferrari, are required to report to the stewards at 17:40 local time in Sao Paulo.

Camara, of Recife in Brazil, is preparing to make his F1 debut at his home race after Haas parted ways with Esteban Ocon following the Mexican Grand Prix.

Ocon was withdrawn by Haas following Friday practice in Mexico last weekend, with Ryo Hirakawa partnering Oliver Bearman at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

Hirakawa went on to score a point on his debut, with post-race penalties for Alpine pair Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto promoting the Japanese driver to 10th in the final classification.

Haas announced on Tuesday that Camara, a Ferrari junior driver, would make his full debut in Brazil, having been signed by the team for the 2027 season last month.

The 21-year-old, who won the F3 title in 2025, leads the F2 feeder championship with a maximum of two rounds remaining in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.

However, it remains to be seen whether Camara will return to Formula 2 to defend his seven-point advantage over Red Bull junior Nikola Tsolov.

Camara had been expected to make his first FP1 appearance with Ferrari in Brazil this weekend before being called up by Haas, with Beganovic deputising for Leclerc instead.
